Privacy Commissioner

The VSA is a public body under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. In addition to protecting the privacy of those it licenses and serves, it must be responsive to requests for access to records it holds.  If you would like to request information not found on our website, please complete the Request for Access to Records Form. For more information on how to submit a request, refer to the Access to Information Fact Sheet.

Privacy Access Requests

The VSA processes requests for access to records in a timely manner and usually at no charge. Requesting parties have included other licensing bodies, government, motor dealers and consumer complainants.

Ombudperson Reviews

The decisions made by the VSA are reviewable by the provincial Ombudsperson. The Ombudsperson reviews decisions to ensure a fair process was followed,including clarity and transparency in arriving at those decisions. No complaint to the Ombudsperson was found to be substantiated in the 2016, 2017 or 2018 fiscal years.
